My Parents Opened a $100,000 Credit Card in My Name—Then Expected Me to Pay for My Sister’s Business

PART 2 END STORYI looked at the documents.

The address was mine.

My phone number was listed.

My email address was there.

Then I saw the signature.

My signature.

Almost perfect.

But not mine.

“I didn’t do this.”

The manager nodded.

“We believe you.”

Mom suddenly interrupted.

“This is ridiculous. We all know she would have approved it anyway.”

I turned toward her.

“We all know?”

She shrugged.

“You have excellent credit. Tessa needed startup capital. It’s not like the money was being wasted.”

Tessa finally spoke.

“I was going to pay you back.”

I stared at her.

“With a $100,000 credit card?”

“It was temporary.”

“Temporary?”

She rolled her eyes.

“You don’t understand how businesses work.”

I laughed once.

Not because anything was funny.

Because I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“You opened a credit account in my name without asking me.”

Mom crossed her arms.

“We opened an opportunity for your sister.”

“No,” I said. “You stole my identity.”

Dad slammed his hand against the desk.

“Enough.”

The room went silent.

“You have the money,” he said. “Your credit is good. You don’t have a mortgage hanging over you. Tessa is trying to build something. Why would you destroy her future over paperwork?”
