My husband kissed me goodbye and said he was flying to Austin for an important business meeting. Hours later, he boarded a first-class flight to Cancun with the woman he had been secretly seeing—only to stop cold when he saw me standing at the aircraft door in my flight attendant uniform. I smiled, checked their matching tickets, and said, “Welcome aboard, Mr. Bellamy. Seats 2A and 2B.”

# THE FLIGHT HE NEVER EXPECTED — PART 2

He thought his wife catching him with another woman was the worst thing that could happen. But when the plane landed in Cancun, he discovered that his marriage wasn’t the only thing he’d lost.

Then I saw them.

Warren came through the boarding door at 12:58, carrying a leather briefcase he had received from his father for his fortieth birthday.

Paige Dalton walked beside him.

She was younger than me, perhaps thirty-two, with long blonde hair, a fitted white dress, and a diamond bracelet that caught the overhead lights.

I recognized that bracelet.

It had appeared on an expense report three weeks earlier under the category “executive client appreciation.”

Four thousand eight hundred dollars.

Paid for by Bellamy Ridge Construction.

A company I partly owned.

Paige was laughing at something Warren had whispered when she looked up and noticed my uniform.
